Who we are

Happy Corner Auto is a used vehicle dealership at 5707 4 St SE, Calgary, Alberta T2H 1K8. We run happycornerauto.ca so you can browse our inventory, ask about a vehicle, request a trade-in estimate, and apply for financing.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to answer you and to do the thing you asked us to do. What that means depends on which form you use.

• Contact form: your name, email, phone number, your message, and which vehicle you were looking at.

• Vehicle inquiry and photo request: your name, contact details, and the vehicle concerned.

• Trade-in form: your contact details, plus vehicle details such as year, make, model, trim, VIN, odometer reading, accident history and condition notes.

• Financing application: the personal, residence, employment and income details a lender needs to assess an application. Depending on the lender, this can include your date of birth and Social Insurance Number.

• Automatically, as you browse: pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location from your IP address, and your browser and device type.

Why we collect it

We use your information to reply to you, prepare a trade-in estimate, submit a financing application on your behalf when you ask us to, arrange a test drive or a sale, meet our record-keeping obligations as an Alberta dealer, and understand how the website is used so we can improve it.

Your consent

Submitting a form is your consent for us to use the information in it for the purpose that form serves, and to contact you about it by phone, text or email.

You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing sales@happycornerauto.ca, or by replying STOP to a text. Withdrawing consent may mean we cannot continue with something already under way, such as a financing application. Some records must be kept regardless, where the law requires it.

Financing applications, lenders and credit checks

This is the most sensitive information we handle, so we want to be specific about it.

When you submit a financing application, we send it to one or more third-party lenders so they can assess it. Those lenders will normally obtain a credit report about you from a credit bureau such as Equifax or TransUnion. That credit check is carried out by the lender under its own privacy policy, not ours, and it may appear on your credit file.

We do not lend money ourselves and we do not make the approval decision. We share your application only with lenders we are submitting it to on your behalf. We do not sell it to anyone.

Analytics and advertising

We use Google Tag Manager to manage measurement tags, which may load analytics and advertising conversion tags. These use cookies and similar identifiers to record page views, how you arrived, and actions such as submitting a form.

Our analytics events are built so the contents of your forms are not sent to these tools. We do not intentionally send your name, email, phone number, address, date of birth, income or employment details as analytics data. Vehicle identifiers such as VIN, stock number and listed price may be included, because those describe public inventory rather than you.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect how parts of the site work.

Other services on our pages

Vehicle pages show a CarGurus price rating badge, loaded from CarGurus. Vehicle history is provided by Carfax, through links to their reports. Both are governed by their own privacy policies, and we do not control what they collect.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information.

• Lenders, when you ask us to submit a financing application.

• Service providers who host the site, deliver our email, or provide measurement tools, who may use the information only to provide that service to us.

• Government or law enforcement where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

• A buyer of the business, if Happy Corner Auto is ever sold, as part of that transaction.

Where your information is kept

Our hosting and measurement providers may store or process information on servers outside Alberta, including in the United States. While it is there, it may be accessible to the courts and authorities of that country under their laws.

How long we keep it

We keep an inquiry only as long as we need it to deal with you and to keep a reasonable business record. Where you buy a vehicle or submit a financing application, we keep the related records for as long as Alberta dealer and tax rules require.

How we protect it

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to submitted information is limited to the people at the dealership who need it to do their job. No system is perfect, and we cannot promise absolute security.

Seeing and correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, what we have used it for, and who we have given it to. You can ask us to correct anything inaccurate. Email sales@happycornerauto.ca and we will respond within 45 days, as Alberta law requires. We may need to confirm who you are first.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

Children

This site is meant for adults buying vehicles. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
